The languages of publication are English, French, and German. Contributors not writing in their mother tongue are particularly asked to have their manuscripts checked for linguistic and stylistic errors. Please use the journal style sheet as a guide: http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/pdf/OLIstyle.pdf

Authors submitting a paper do so on the understanding that the work has not been published before, is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has been read and approved by all authors. Authors will be required to sign an Exclusive Licence Form (ELF) for all papers accepted for publication. Signature of the ELF is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless a signed form has been received. Please note that signature of the Exclusive Licence Form does not affect ownership of copyright in the material. (Government employees need to complete the Author Warranty sections, although copyright in such cases does not need to be assigned). After submission authors will retain the right to publish their paper in various media/circumstances (please see the form for further details). To assist authors an appropriate form will be supplied by the editorial office. Alternatively, authors may like to download a copy of the form here: download Exclusive Licence Form

Manuscripts - Manuscripts should be typewritten original copies with wide margins and be double-spaced throughout.   All pages, including notes and references, should be numbered consecutively. If titles are longer than forty letters and spaces, the author is requested to supply a short title of not more than forty letters and spaces to be used as a running title. Notes and references should be typed on separate pages. To facilitate the handling of manuscripts, texts should be submitted, whenever possible, in machine-readable form and accompanied by a diskette containing an exact copy of the manuscript with tables and figures in a separate file (TIFF, EPS or JPEG). The software used, the programme version number, as well as the format of the diskette, should be clearly marked. Colour figures must be paid for by the author.

Quotations - Short quotations should be incorporated into the text and surrounded with single quotation marks. Longer quotations, more than fifty words, and quotations from poetry or plays should be indented on the left-hand margin and typed with double spacing. Contributors are responsible for securing from the proper source permission to use longer quotations. Permission should accompany the submitted article.

Abstract and Keywords - An abstract of no more than 200 words should be sent with the manuscript, together with up to six keywords describing the content of the article for online searching purposes. The abstract and keywords should be in the same language as the article.

References - All works cited in the article should be included in a list of references at the end of the text. These should preferably follow the Harvard style of referencing; guidelines can be found at http://www.library.uq.edu.au/training/citation/harvard.html or on the journal style sheet above.

There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as
EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.

EndNote reference styles can be searched for here:
http://www.endnote.com/support/enstyles.asp

Reference Manager reference styles can be searched for here:

Biographical note - A brief note should be sent with the manuscript containing the following information: Contributor's year of birth, degree and present academic status, university or college, and most important published work.

Offprints - Authors will receive one PDF offprint free of charge. Issue copies and printed offprints can be ordered at proof stage.

Proofs - First proofs only will be sent to contributors. They should be returned with the least possible delay and only minimal, essential corrections should be made. Contributors will be required to pay for any major alterations from their original manuscripts and it may sometimes be necessary to reject such changes.

NEW: Online production tracking is now available for your article through Blackwell's Author Services.
Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit
www.blackwellpublishing.com/bauthor for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.
