Thompson, Barry Spacks, James Sallis, Jack Gilbert, Paul Hoover, Rodney Jones, Annie Dillard, Everette Maddox, Julio Cortazar, Andrei Codrescu, D. C. Berry, John Kennedy Toole, Gordon Lish, Robert Walser, Mark Halliday, Jack Butler, Robert Olen Butler, Michael Harper, Angela Ball, Joyce Carol Oates, Diane Wakoski, Dermot Bolger, Roddy Doyle, William Kotzwinkle, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Yusef Konumyakaa, Michael Martone, Tess Gallagher, Raymond Queneau, and Arnost Lustig. Work published in the New Orleans Review has been reprinted in the Pushcart Prize, Best American Poetry, New Stories From the South, Utne Reader, Poetry Daily, Verse Daily, and O. Henry Prize Stories anthologies. New Orleans Review is published twice a year, perfect bound, around 200 pages, black & white art and photography, with four-color cover. Instructions to Authors SUBMISSION GUIDELINES New Orleans Review accepts unsolicited submissions of original poetry, fiction, nonfiction, book reviews, and interviews year round. Send submission (complete, legible manuscript, brief cover letter, SASE) to New Orleans Review, Box 195, Loyola University, New Orleans, LA 70118. Send three to five poems, or one story (up to 6,500 words) at a time only. Please. No previously published work. No multiple submissions. No electronic submissions. Simultaneous submissions O. K. if we¡¯re notified immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Average response time two to four months. We¡¯re looking for well-crafted, dynamic writing that demonstrates attention to the language, and a sense of the medium, writing that engages, surprises, moves us. We subscribe to the belief that in order to truly write well, one must master the rudiments: grammar and syntax, punctuation, diction, the sentence, the paragraph, the line, the stanza.
