About the journal
Publications in the KANT-STUDIEN have a dual focus: firstly contributions to the interpretation, history and editorial questions of Kant's philosophy, and secondly systematic debates on transcendental philosophy. In addition, there are investigations on Kant's precursors and on the effects of his philosophy. The journal also contains a documentation section, in which the current state of research is indicated by means of a continually updated bibliography with reviews and references.
Instructions to Authors
Your article in the Kant-Studien Guidelines for Manuscripts I. General guidelines 1. Please provide two copies of each typewritten manuscript. Once the article has been accepted for publication, we will need the article in a digital format - either as a .rtf-file for Windows or as a .doc-file for Windows. 2. Please send your manuscript to: Kant-Studien-Redaktion Philosophisches Seminar Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Colonel-Kleinmann-Weg 2 55128 Mainz The editorial office cannot assume any responsibility for unsolicited manuscripts or review copies. They will only be returned to the sender if accompanied by return postage (in stamps). 3. If at all possible, please provide an e-mail address for ease in correspondence. 4. Contributions, essays, and articles will be consider without knowledge of the author’s name. They will be anonymously evaluated out of house or by the editors, who will then decide whether the submission is suitable for possible publication. Reviews will be evaluated by the editorial office. This includes requested reviews as well. II. Guidelines for the manuscript 1. In general, the length of articles and contributions (including notes and bibliography) should not exceed 25 pages (max. 60,000 characters); the editorial office advises on the lengths of reviews individually, though, as a rule, reviews should not exceed 5 pages. Lines should be spaced 1.5 (text and notes). The notes should be numbered consecutively (superscript, no brackets) and appear as footnotes. In the text file, the notes should be incorporated into the text automatically. 2. Citations: (a) citations should be placed in double quotation marks. Only longer citations, which appear indented and in petite, do not need quotation marks. Single quotation marks shall be used for the marking of words or terms, of citations not presented in the original form but offering a particular meaning, or in indirect speech. (b) omissions in citations are marked by three dots placed in square brackets which are separated from the preceding and the following word by a single space. (c) punctuation marks which end a citation are to be placed outside the citation, unless whole sentences are being cited. The number of the annotation which points to the bibliographic information of the citation in the footnote has to appear directly after the quotation mark closing the citation: only in the following cases will the number appear at the end of a sentence after the closing punctuation: (1) there is more than one citation in the same sentence using the same source, (2) the citation is a complete sentence. A number pointing to a note without the source of a citation is to be placed at the end of the sentence after the closing punctuation - unless the note is related to a specific word or part of a sentence, in which case the number is placed right behind the word or part of the sentence before the punctuation mark that closes the part of the sentence in question. 3. If stressing in the text is required it should be done through the use of italics. 4. All titles of original texts, monographs, or journals should appear in italics or should be marked by blackunderlining for being printed in italics. The titles of journal articles should be placed in double quotation marks. Monographs should only appear with their place of publication without giving the name of the publisher. The citation in the footnote should appear like this: Last name, first name of the author: Title. Place of publication. Year of Publication, page-page. Or: Last name, first name of the author: „Title of article? In: Title of publication. etc. The citation of pages should appear as simple numbers without a precluding p. The citation of two consecutive pages should be done by writing f. (i.e., 24f., instead of 24-5).
