About the journal
The Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society has been published by the Society since 1834 and is distinguished not only by its longevity but also by its consistency in providing a forum for scholarly articles of the highest quality on South Asia, the Middle East (together with North Africa and Ethiopia), Central Asia, East Asia and South-East Asia. It publishes articles on history, archaeology, literature, language, religion and art, and reviews of books in these fields.
Instructions to Authors Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society invites the submission of original scholarly articles on the anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art, history, languages, literatures, philosophies and religions of all parts of Asia, together with North Africa and Ethiopia. Submission All editorial communications should be addressed to: The Editorial Office Royal Asiatic Society 14 Stephenson Way London NW1 2HD UK or HTUcdb@royalasiaticsociety.orgUTH in the case of electronic correspondence. Contributions submitted for publication in the Journal should ideally be transmitted in both electronic and in hard form. Electronic submissions should be by email attachment or on a CD or Floppy Disk with non-European and unusual characters rendered in Arial Unicode MS. Hardcopy submissions should be in double spacing, on consecutively numbered A4 sheets which should be printed on one-side only. Submission of an article, or other item, implies that it has not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission to publish, in both print and electronic media, material for which the do not own the copyright and for ensuring that appropriate acknowledgements are included in their draft text or typescript. Authors of material accepted for publication will be asked to assign their copyright to the Royal Asiatic Society. Authors will receive electronic proofs directly from CUP but in cases where an author does not have online access the Journal’s editorial office will dispatch hardcopy proofs. All corrections should be returned to the Journal’s Editorial Office. References References and notes should be typed in the form of the following examples: G. H.
