About the journal
Aims and scope
The Journal of Philosophical Logic aims to provide a forum for work utilizing the formal tools and methods of symbolic logic in order to shed light upon questions of philosophical, conceptual, or foundational relevance.

Accordingly, the Journal invites contributions to the traditional branches of philosophical logic, including (but not limited to) various versions of modal, temporal, and deontic logic; constructive and sub-classical logics; many-valued logics; conditionals; quantum logic; relevance logic; inductive logic and belief change; formal philosophy of language; theories of truth and validity.

Contributions are also invited that explore applications of logic to the various different fields of scientific and formal inquiry, including (but not limited to) the foundations and philosophy of mathematics; the foundations and philosophy of the special sciences; the theoretical foundations of computer science, artificial intelligence, and defeasible reasoning; semantic theory and linguistics.

Journal of Philosophical Logic

General
The Journal of Philosophical Logic is published bimonthly with administrative support from Indiana University at Bloomington and from the University of California at Irvine. Articles may vary considerably in length. The Journal of Philosophical Logic also provides for a limited number of brief squibs and critical notes, which may serve to present examples, raise problems, criticize articles previously published in the journal, and the like. Short reviews will not be accepted. But from time to time review articles may be published, provided that they also qualify as research articles devoted to the examination of some major work in philosophical logic.

The Journal of Philosophical Logic aims to provide a forum for work utilizing the formal tools and methods of symbolic logic in order to shed light upon questions of philosophical, conceptual, or foundational relevance.

The aim of the Journal of Philosophical Logic is to provide a forum for work which is at the same time of definite philosophical interest and yet is technical in nature. The degree of technicality may vary widely; authors are asked to make clear exactly what technical background is assumed.
