About the journal ANQ: A Quarterly Journal of Short Articles, Notes, and Reviews
Occupying a unique niche among literary journals, ANQ is filled with short, incisive research-based articles about the literature of the English-speaking world and the language of literature. Contributors unravel obscure allusions, explain sources and analogues, and supply variant manuscript readings. Also included are Old English word studies, textual emendations, and rare correspondence from neglected archives. The journal is an essential source for professors and students, as well as archivists, bibliographers, biographers, editors, lexicographers, and textual scholars. With subjects from Chaucer and Milton to Fitzgerald and Welty, ANQ delves into the heart of literature.
Instructions to Authors ANQ: Manuscript Submission
ANQ, a peer-reviewed journal, welcomes contributions of factual articles and notes based on new research in the language and literature of the English-speaking world. Subjects in recent issues have ranged from The Canterbury Tales to "The Cask of Amontillado" to A Clockwork Orange.
Submission Details: Submissions seldom exceed 2,500 words and must be accompanied by loose stamps and a self-addressed envelope for return of manuscript. Submissions that offer only explications de texte are not appropriate for the journal.
Manuscripts must follow MLA style, including parenthetical citations in text, endnotes rather than footnotes (if required), and an alphabetized list of Works Cited, as described in the MLA Style Manual, 2nd ed. (1998) by Joseph Gibaldi. Address correspondence regarding editorial matters to:
