About the journal
Since its founding in 1944, The Americas (TAm) has been one of the principal English-language journals of Latin American history. It publishes articles on all chronological periods of Latin American, Spanish borderlands, and related Iberian scholarship. The journal includes an extensive book review section and a compilation of news and notes of general interest to Latin Americanists.

TAm is published quarterly (January, April, July, October). Articles are indexed in American History and Life, Hispanic American Periodicals Index, Chicano Periodical Index, Humanities Index, Social Sciences Index, Social Science Citation Index, and other major references. Instructions for contributors: Three copies of double-spaced manuscripts, with diskette (MS Word preferred), should be sent to the Editor at the editorial office. Preference is for English-language manuscripts no longer than 8,000 words. Manuscripts in Spanish or Portuguese may be considered. Submitted manuscripts should not have been previously published or under simultaneous consideration at another journal or press. All books for review and related correspondence should be sent to the Senior Assistant Editor at the editorial office. Annual subscription: Pan American countries, direct subscription, $22.00; United States and other countries: Institution, $95.00; Individual, $38.00. Student rate, $20.00 (request must be accompanied by a verification of status signed by a faculty member on departmental stationery). Current single number $25.00 each; back numbers, $25.00.
