About the journal
W elcome to ESC Digital, the online counterpart to English Studies in Canada. We hope that everyone will find useful information here at the website, but we do like to think of ESC Digital as the younger, cooler, hipper sibling to the older, more established print journal.
ESC is an academic journal based at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and is the official journal of the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English. As the nation's leading generalist journal in the discipline of English Studies, we publish quarterly in print and digital formats to a global audience. Through digital aggregation, an article from ESC is downloaded every five minutes by a reader in one of eighty countries around the globe.
Instructions to Authors
Submissions should be sent in triplicate and addressed to The Editor, English Studies in Canada, 3-5 Humanities Centre, Department of English, University of Alberta, Edmonton AB T6G 2E5. All submissions should include a brief (100-word) abstract, also in triplicate, and an electronic copy (either on disk or as an email attachment). Since author's names are not revealed to referees during assessment, the title but not the author's name should appear on the submission. A cover sheet with the author's name and address and the title of the article should accompany the submission.
All articles and reviews must be prepared using parenthetical documentation and including a list of works cited as described in the MLA Style Manual.
