About the journal
Fully Open Access
Film-Philosophy is an open access peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the engagement between film studies and philosophy. The journal is interested in the ways in which films develop and contribute to philosophical discussion. We particularly welcome articles that set up an active engagement between film studies and philosophy, thereby sustaining a thoughtful re-evaluation of key aspects of each discipline.
There has been an increasing interest in film-philosophy as a discipline within Film Studies since the 1990s and Film-Philosophy itself has played an important role in this development. We provide an important avenue for publication in the field of film and philosophy.

Book Reviews
Film-Philosophy generally commissions book reviews and we do not accept unsolicited reviews. Any enquiries should be sent to Dr William Brown, Roehampton University: william.brown@roehampton.ac.uk.
Review Process
We operate a system of double-blind peer review. Book reviews, festival reports and interviews are not peer-reviewed.
We ask our peer reviewers to respond critically but constructively to submissions. These are the questions that reviewers consider when evaluating submissions:
- Does the submission make an original contribution to the field, or does it cover well known material?
- Is the submission up to date, relevantand contextualised? Does it take into account recent, relevant research?
- Does the submission have a clear focus and structure?
- Is there a clear argument written in a clear style? Does the author resort to jargon or confusing language?
Please find the guidelines on anonymous submissions here.
