Anuario Musical was founded in 1946 by Higinio Anglés, director of the (then so called) "Instituto Español de Musicología". It is the earliest among periodicals devoted to Musicology in Spain. The contents of the review are formed by papers on all the areas of musicological research: History, studies on musical sources, and Ethnomusicology, as well as different aspects about musical performance, organology, etc. The Journal is open to musicologists and scholars specialized in the many disciplines related to music.
Anuario Musical is covered by Web of Science: Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), SCOPUS, CWTS Leiden Ranking (Journal indicators), ERIH Plus, REDIB, DOAJ and other prestigious national and international databases.
Anuario Musical provides free, unrestricted access to full-text articles immediately after publication in this online edition.
Focus and Scope
Anuario Musical was founded in 1946 by Higinio Anglés, director of the (then so called) “Instituto Español de Musicología”. It is among the oldest periodicals devoted to Musicology in Spain. The Journal covers all areas of musicological research: History, studies on musical sources, and Ethnomusicology, as well as different aspects about musical performance, organology, etc.
Anuario Musical only accepts previously unpublished, original papers. Spanish is the main language, but also accepts originals in Basque, Catalan, English, French, Galician, German, Italian and Portuguese languages. The Journal is open to musicologists and scholars specialized in the many disciplines related to music. It is published yearly.
Anuario Musical is organized into Sections as follows: History of Music and Musicology, Ethnomusicology, and Studies on musical sources (very often related to the RISM project). Occasionally, the Editorial Board could add sections devoted to Bibliographic Reviews, Chronicles of significant events, and News or Reports.

GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS AND SUBMISSIONS
Anuario Musical welcomes articles in all areas of musical and musicological scholarship -being the research contributions the core of the publication—, including history, criticism, analysis, studies of musical sources, performance practice, organology, musical iconography and ethnomusicology. (The Journal does not regularly publish reviews, but does invite proposals for review essays on signifi cant books, music editions, or conference reports).
Submitted contributions and papers must be original and unpublished works, according the following rules:
- Reception before April the 15th (deadlines).
- Accepted languages include: Catalan, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
- Length: 30 pages maximum (A-4 format), using Times New Roman (12 points size for the main text, 11 points for quotations and 10 points for the footnotes). Provide 3 centimetres margins and 1,5 space.
- Quotations in foreign languages should be translated in footnote with the original appearing in the main text.
- Musical examples and illustrations must provide a good quality and should be numbered according to the order in which they are first mentioned in the article. Each one should be placed on its own page with a title. Illustrations will be reproduced in a greyscale (not in colours).
- The recent electronic edition of Anuario Musical allow including supplementary image, video and sound files. That makes easier including versions of the illustrations in a bigger size and resolution, under condition of being identical (except in the mentioned aspects) to those published in the printed edition, and providing their titles.
- Permission to publish musical examples, illustrations or any other kind of original documentation, are under the strict responsibility of the authors.
- In relation to bibliographical references, please, follow international rules. E.g.:
Books: -ANGLÉS PAMIES, Higinio: La Música en la Corte de los Reyes Católicos. Vol. I, “Polifonía Religiosa”. Madrid, CSIC, 1941.

- Authors should submit an Abstract in English (10 lines maximum), as well as a “Resumen” in Spanish (also 10 lines maximum). Moreover, synopses in a third language are also possible, if the paper is written in a different language.
- Please, include Key Words (7-10) and “Palabras clave”.
- Authors must include a valid ORCID identifier along with the authors’ filiation. Authors without this personal identifier can register free of charge in http://orcid.org to complete this data. When the article is signed by several authors, it is required to include the ORCID of all of them.
Originals are to be presented printed out (3 copies) and in a CD-ROM to the Editorial Offi ces of the yearbook (c/ Egipcíaques, 15 - 08001 Barcelona), enclosing a brief CV and complete data of the author (postal address, e-mail, telephone number, etc.). In order to be more efficient, it is also possible to use the e-mail address of the review editor of Anuario Musical. Editorial Board will decide on whether to accept the original for publication in future issues of the magazine. Should it not be accepted, or should prior amendments be recommended before publication, the original will be returned to the author. All articles received will be subjected to outside peer review. Once the paper is approved, proves will be send to the author without the original, and they should be returned to the magazine forthwith. Significant alterations or additions to the original text will not be accepted. Articles appearing in magazines belonging to the CSIC will be published without payment. All publishing rights belong to CSIC, and their permission must be sought for any further reproduction of the article in whatever form, either in the original language or in a translation. As soon as the correspondent issue of Anuario Musical were published, each author will receive a CD-ROM that its article will contain, in protected format pdf and a unit of corresponding volume. Recently, exist the possibility of publishing papers in an “advanced electronic version” (before appearing the printed version), as well as printed proofs —conveniently revised and with no signifi cant differences to the printed definitive version—. Contributions would be published in a text or pdf format, provided with a watermark indicating it is an “advance of publication” (not numbering of pages required).
