The only Slovak-Czech theoretical journal of architecture and town-planning
Journal with 47 years tradition
Texts in Slovak, Czech and English
The quarterly ARCHITEKTÚRA & URBANIZMUS provides a forum for the publication of papers on theory of architecture and town-planning. The attention is mostly concentrated on the recent state, history, philosophy and culture of architecture and town-planning. The published papers deal with the relation of architecture and town-planning to art, technology and environment, with methods of appreciation and criticism of architectural and town-planning activities, as well as with appreciation of outstanding architects, architectonic works and periods. Papers on architecture and town-planning education, book reviews and informations on important scientific meetings are involved.

The journal was launched in 1967 on the initiative of the Institute of Construction and Architecture of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava and the Department of Architecture and Environment Theory of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague. Most important personalities of the Czechoslovak architecture scene like Emil Belluš, Bohuslav Fuchs, Emanuel Hruška and Martin Kusý used to be members of the foundation editorial board of the journal. The journal Architektúra & urbanizmus is the longest standing, continuously published, refereed scientific periodical on architecture and town planning in Czech Republic and Slovakia.
