About the journal
The Journal of Belgian History (JBH) is the platform for scientific historiography concerning Belgian contemporary history (19th and 20th century). The JBH publishes articles, an overview of recent MA research, reviews of scholarly literature and a debate forum. The journal publishes four issues per year, of which issues 2-3 are published as a double sized issue. Besides the articles, this double sized issue also contains all the columns. Issues 1-3 contain contributions in both Dutch and French. The fourth and final issue of an annual volume, is always exclusively in English. This English issue, contains new articles as well as parts of the columns (reviews, debate forum, doctorate research) previously published in issues 2-3.
Together with the open access website, this journal is the central platform for Belgian modern and contemporary history. It provides an overview of new research results as well as current academic debates. The scientific editorial board contains historians of all Belgian universities.
Instructions to Authors
The JBH accepts articles in English, French and Dutch. A proposition can be submitted digitally via the editors in chief or via : jbh@cegesoma.be.
You can download the editorial guidelines for articles here. The JBH applies the double blind peer review (the authors as well as the reviewers are anonymous). The article is commented by at least three reviewers (in principle members of the editorial board). For more information on the review process: see 'working method of the editorial staff' or the guidelines for the authors.
