About the journal
Women's Studies provides a forum for the presentation of scholarship and criticism about women in the fields of literature, history, art, sociology, law, political science, economics, anthropology and the sciences. It also publishes poetry, film and book reviews. Books for review should be sent to the book review editors at the following address:

Instructions to Authors
Submission of Manuscripts. Women's Studies receives all manuscript submissions electronically via their ScholarOne Manuscripts website located at: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/GWST. ScholarOne Manuscripts allows for rapid submission of original and revised manuscripts, as well as facilitating the review process and internal communication between authors, editors and reviewers via a web-based platform. For ScholarOne Manuscripts technical support, you may contact them by e-mail or phone support via http://scholarone.com/ services/support. Preparation of Manuscripts. Women's Studies accepts original articles of between 20 and 30 (double-spaced) pages in length. We also accept short prose pieces of varying length (not to exceed 20 pages) and poetry. All manuscripts should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents, double-spaced with standard font. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title for a running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces, an abstract of approximately 100 words, the author(s) affiliation and location. Please also include a cover letter stating that the article has not been published elsewhere, nor is it under consideration for publication elsewhere. The cover letter should also contain the mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address for all contributing authors.
Footnotes. Footnotes appear as “Notes” at the end of the article preceding the Works Cited list. Authors are advised to include footnote material in the text whenever possible. Notes are to be numbered consecutively throughout the paper and typed double-spaced at the end of the text (they will not be set as endnotes). Notes should be used as notes only and should not be used for citations.
References. Women's Studies requires all manuscripts to adhere to the most recent MLA handbook's requirements for both in-text parenthetical citations and the Works Cited list. Manuscripts that do not adhere to our citation and style guidelines will not be considered for publication. Examples of Works Cited citation styles are listed below:

Tables, Figures, Photos, and Illustrations. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets at the end of the manuscript. Insert place markers for tables, figures, photos and illustrations in the text. Number tables consecutively; a short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any notes or descriptions suitably identified below. All units must be included. Photos or illustrations should not be embedded in the text, but should be included at the end of the paper on separate sheets. Illustrations and photographs should also be properly identified with captions. Photo captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All photos or illustrations to be included in an article should also be uploaded separately as production-quality (minimum of 300 dpi) TIFF files.Color art will be reproduced in color in the online publication at no additional cost to the author. Color illustrations will also be considered for publication; however, the contributing author or artist will be required to bear the full cost involved in color art reproduction. Please note that color reprints can only be ordered if print reproduction costs are paid. Print Rates: $900 for the first page of color, $450 per page for the next three pages of color. A custom quote will be provided for articles with more than four pages of color. Art not supplied at a minimum of 300 dpi will not be considered for print.
Proofs. Page proofs are sent to the designated author. They must be checked carefully and returned within 48 hours of receipt.
Reprints. Each corresponding author will receive one copy of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of individual articles are available for order at the time authors review page proofs. A discount on reprints is available to authors who order before print publication.
