Instructions to Authors

Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Journal of Beliefs & Values will be published three times a year in April, August and December. Neither the editor nor the editorial board accept responsibility for the views or statements expressed by authors.

The editor invites submissions of articles addressing issues in the area of beliefs and values. Articles in the range of 3000-5000 words are preferred. Research reports should not exceed 1500 words. The articles submitted must contain original material which has not been published and which is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Papers accepted by Journal of Beliefs & Values may not be published elsewhere without the consent of the editor. The journal should be cited in lists of references as Journal of Beliefs & Values.

Manuscripts submitted for publication and all editorial correspondence, should be sent to: Dr William S. Campbell, Centre for Beliefs and Values, University of Wales, Lampeter, Ceredigion SA48 7ED, UK. They should be typewritten on one side of the paper, double spaced and in triplicate (one original and two copies). The original manuscript will be discarded one month after publication unless the editor is requested to return the original material to the author.

The detachable cover page of the manuscript should carry the full title of the article and information for all the authors: full name, full title of job, (e.g. Senior Lecturer in Religion), name of their department or school, and the name and address of their institution. This page should also carry the name and address of the author to whom correspondence and proofs should be sent. The second page should repeat the full title of the article and provide an abstract of around 100-150 words.

Refereeing Incoming papers are normally reviewed by at least two referees (in addition to the editor), unless they are clearly not appropriate for the aims and scope of the journal. Refereeing is anonymous unless a referee chooses otherwise. Papers are reviewed blind and it is the author's reponsibility to disguise authorship by appropriate means. Copies of referees' reports will normally be sent to contributors to enable them to see reasons for acceptance or rejection, or suggestions for improvement. Correspondence regarding decisions reached by the editorial committee is not encouraged.

Electronic Submission. Authors should send the final, revised version of their articles in both hard copy paper and electronic disk forms. It is essential that the hard copy (paper) version exactly matches the material on disk. Please print out the hard copy from the disk you are sending. Submit three printed copies of the final version with the disk to the journal's editorial office. Save all files on a standard 3.5 inch high-density disk. We prefer to receive disks in Microsoft Word in a PC format, but can translate from most other common word processing programs as well as Macs. Please specify which program you have used. Do not save your files as "text only" or "read only".
