Two copies of each article should be submitted. These should be typescript, double spaced throughout (i.e. including references and quotations) and with ample margins. They should not normally exceed 7,500 words. References, quotation marks (N.B. single, not double, for standard quotations), etc. should conform to the recent style of the journal. Long discursive endnotes are discouraged and all notes should be collected at the end of the article. There should not be separate biblographies but full references given in endnotes. Articles submitted in appropriate form will be refereed blind. Authors will receive proofs but no alterations from the final typescript are permitted in proof. No responsibility is accepted for loss or damage to scripts and these are not returned unless stamped and addressed envelopes or international reply coupons are sent. Authors receive 20 free offprints and may order more at their cost with return of corrected proofs.
It is a condition of publication in the Journal that authors assign copyright to the British Society of Aesthetics through Oxford University Press. This ensures that requests from third parties to reproduce articles are handled efficiently and consistently and will also allow the article to be as widely disseminated as possible. In assigning copyright, Authors may use their own material in other publications provided that the Journal is acknowledged as the original place of publication, and Oxford University Press is notified in writing and in advance.
