GUIDELINES FOR SENDING AND SUBMITTING ORIGINALS
1. Submissions
— All contributions submitted must be original, unpublished and should not be under consideration in any other journal, nor be publicly available in any kind of format. Its acceptance will be subject to the decision of at least two referees.
— Articles will be reviewed by external referees and the method of assessment used is «double blind peer review», as both the author and the assessors remain anonymous. Therefore, authors are encouraged to exclude their identities from the first document sent for assessment: the name of the author and the name of the institution which the author belongs to will be included in a separate sheet. The author’s identity will thus not be identifiable either from the references to his/her own work or the acknowledgments.
— The originals should be sent to:
EMERITA.
Besides the identity, the institution the author belongs to and the author’s address and e-mail, the author should also send:
a) A copy of the work in both electronic format and editable word processing format (Word, WordPerfect, Open Office), stating the name of the programme and the version used. This copy may be sent as an attached file to an e-mail or in a CD.
b) In the case of the articles, the title, an abstract (up to 150 words at most) and a short list of keywords, all of them both in English and Spanish (and, if applicable, in the original language of the article).
c) A reference copy of the text clearly printed or in PDF format. In this latter case, the file will be sent attached to an e-mail or in a CD. Moreover, the fonts of the document in PDF format should coincide with the fonts used in the original word processor.
— On receipt of the original articles and notes, EMERITA will acknowledge receipt by e-mail and will submit the articles to the referees. According to the assessors’ reviews, EMERITA will report about the full acceptance, the acceptance subject to improvement or amendments, or the rejection of works within a maximum period of six months, from the date of receipt of the original. Upon publication, the author will receive 25 offprints at the given address, as well as an offprint in electronic format.
— In the case of reviews, except for exceptional cases, only those applying to books received by EMERITA editorial staff will be published. Upon publication, the author will receive one offprint by post as well as an offprint in electronic format.
2. Length and formats
— The length of the articles should not exceed twenty-four pages of the journal (which is approximately equivalent to sixty thousand characters, notes and blank spaces included); the length of the reviews should not exceed two pages (six thousand characters).
— Works should have a DIN A 4 page format, with wide margins enabling to write notes. The font for the main body of the article will be equivalent to Times New Roman, size 11 point font. If special characters are used (Greek, phonetic [IPA] alphabet, etc.), standard Unicode font will be used (Times New Roman in versions 5.1 and newer, Palatino Linotype or free access Gentium, New Athena, Cardo, Charis Sil, etc.).
3. Images
— Regarding the insertion of images in the body of the article, including stemmata codicum, all images will be sent attached to the original in electronic format, as separate files, marking in the text where they should be inserted. The corresponding captions will also be included in a separate document.
— The author will see to provide images of appropriate resolution and quality for print as well as to obtain permissions to reproduce someone else’s work and ensure that the required acknowledgments are included.
— In line and text drawings, such as maps or stemmata, any vector format guarantees print quality, but please bear in mind that images may need to be reduced to fit the 12 x 17 cm usable page space, and that text within the image will shrink correspondingly, at the risk of becoming illegible. For photographic reproductions or shade images, the minimum admitted final resolution is 300 ppi, and JPG, JPEG o TIFF are the recommended file formats.
