About the journal
Theology Today, a quarterly ecumenical journal of Christian theology, publishes articles on a wide range of classical and contemporary issues in Christian theology by many of the finest theologians working today. Theology Today is published by Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ.
Instructions to Authors Submissions to Theology Today Please submit only previously unpublished material. We do not publish material that has appeared elsewhere (or is already scheduled to appear elsewhere). Please do not send us material that you are simultaneously submitting elsewhere. We consider only material that is serially (not concurrently) submitted. In evaluating whether your submission might be appropriate for Theology Today, please bear in mind that Theology Today is an ecumenical journal of Christian theology that publishes articles on a wide range of classical and contemporary issues in Christian theology. You may consult our online archive for examples of previously published articles and poetry. NOTE: WE WELCOME UNSOLICITED ARTICLES AND SHORTER FEATURES. WE DO NOT ACCEPT UNSOLICITED BOOK REVIEWS OR NOTES. WE DO NOT PAY FOR ANY MATERIAL SUBMITTED. Articles 1. Manuscriptemust be submitted as a single-document email attachment (in Microsoft Word format only) to theology.today@ptsem.edu. You can download a copy of the article template with Theology Today style formatting here. 2. This attached document should include: ?the author’s name and brief one- or two-sentence biographical information, ?a title for the article ?an abstract (100 words or less) at the beginning of the document. ?the body of the article with ?a clear statement of the problem being addressed ?headings (and subheadings, if desired) ?minimal endnotes (not footnotes), primarily to identify sources ?a clear statement of the conclusions reached concerning the original problem 3. The maximum length of articles typically published by Theology Today is 5000 words (20 double-spaced 8½”x11?pages with Times New Roman 12-point font). The editors reserve the right to return manuscripts unread that greatly exceed this length. 4. In your email, include your name, postal address, and telephone number. 5. We will notify you when the editors have made a decision about your submission. Although the length of the review process varies, you should not expect to hear from us for at least two months. For submissions received in the winter or summer recess, evaluation will take longer. Shorter Features Theology Today also will consider unsolicited shorter features (1800?100 words) worthy of publication, including: ?Responses to Articles ?well-written, carefully argued responses to articles appearing in Theology Today designed to further the conversation on a particular theological topic ?Critic’s Corner ?typically an essay-length review of one or more recent publications, films, or other media relating to Christian theology ?Theological Table Talk ?informal, conversational-style essays on theological topics ?The Church in the World ?shorter essays on the ecumenical church and the contemporary world ?Crossing Boundaries ?essays by specialists in one theological field, religious tradition or subfield reflecting on a primary text from another theological field, religious tradition or subfield ?Theology on the Ground ?essays by experienced pastors and teachers, bringing theological reflection to bear in relation to church practices (preaching, sacraments, education, music, pastoral care) and to emerging forms of church life and mission
